The word mediator is recorded seven times in the New Testament.  Seven is the number of the spiritual perfection of God, thus showing that Christ, our Mediator is the perfection of God.

Wherefore then [serveth] the law? It was added because of transgressions, till the seed should come to whom the promise was made; [and it was] ordained by angels in the hand of a mediator. (Galatians 3:19)

Now a mediator is not [a mediator] of one, but God is one. (Galatians 3:20)

For [there is] one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus; (1st Timothy 2:5)

But now hath he obtained a more excellent ministry, by how much also he is the mediator of a better covenant, which was established upon better promises. (Hebrews 8:6)

And for this cause he is the mediator of the new testament, that by means of death, for the redemption of the transgressions [that were] under the first testament, they which are called might receive the promise of eternal inheritance. (Hebrews 9:15)

And to Jesus the mediator of the new covenant, and to the blood of sprinkling, that speaketh better things than [that of] Abel. (Hebrews 12:24)

On the cross of Calvary, we see the fulfillment of all the days of atonement in the history of Israel. This was the fulfillment for all of mankind. God was IN Christ reconciling the world unto Himself. He was fulfilling ALL the Law and the prophets. He was fulfilling ALL those sacrifices that could not take away sin. God’s day of atonement had come, and through the death of God’s dear Son, mankind would enter into the year of jubile. (This phrase the year of jubile is mentioned seven (7) times in scripture.)

Side Note: The Year of Jubile.

But if he be not able to restore [it] to him, then that which is sold shall remain in the hand of him that hath bought it until the year of jubile: and in the jubile it shall go out, and he shall return unto his possession. (Leviticus 25:28)

And if a man purchase of the Levites, then the house that was sold, and the city of his possession, shall go out in [the year of] jubile: for the houses of the cities of the Levites [are] their possession among the children of Israel. (Leviticus 25:33)

[But] as an hired servant, [and] as a sojourner, he shall be with thee, [and] shall serve thee unto the year of jubile: (Leviticus 25:40)

And he shall reckon with him that bought him from the year that he was sold to him unto the year of jubile: and the price of his sale shall be according unto the number of years, according to the time of an hired servant shall it be with him. (Leviticus 25:50)

And if there remain but few years unto the year of jubile, then he shall count with him, [and] according unto his years shall he give him again the price of his redemption. (Leviticus 25:52)

And if he be not redeemed in these [years], then he shall go out in the year of jubile, [both] he, and his children with him. (Leviticus 25:54)

If he sanctify his field from the year of jubile, according to thy estimation it shall stand. (Leviticus 27:17) ♦ End of Side Note: The Year of Jubile.

For the Law in the Old Testament

The phrase for the law is mentioned seven times in the Bible. Twice in the Old Testament as a witness of what is to come . . . Jeremiah 18:18 and Micah 4:2. In Jeremiah 18:18 the corrupt priesthood went against Jeremiah who was called from the womb to be a prophet to the nations. And God put His own words into the mouth of Jeremiah to prophesy to the people.

• Then said they, Come, and let us devise devices against Jeremiah; for the law shall not perish from the priest, nor counsel from the wise, nor the word from the prophet. Come, and let us smite him with the tongue, and let us not give heed to any of his words. (Jeremiah 18:18)

Then the word of the LORD came unto me, saying, (Jeremiah 1:4) Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations. (Jeremiah 1:5)

Then the LORD put forth his hand, and touched my mouth. And the LORD said unto me, Behold, I have put my words in thy mouth. (Jeremiah 1:9)

We have the first witness of for the law  in Jeremiah 18:18, and the conflict that Jeremiah had with the corrupt priest who were using the Law to discredit Jeremiah who was called of God to prophesy to Israel and to the nations concerning the judgment of God.

• And many nations shall come, and say, Come, and let us go up to the mountain of the LORD, and to the house of the God of Jacob; and he will teach us of his ways, and we will walk in his paths: for the law shall go forth of Zion, and the word of the LORD from Jerusalem. In Micah 4:2, we see the finality of the Law in pure holiness This is during the reign of the King of kings and Lord of lords for the Law will be the word of His mouth and not one jot nor tittle shall pass away.

For the Law in the New Testament

In the New Testament the phrase For the law is mentioned five (5) times, the number of grace. And five times every reference BEGINS with For the law.

• For the law was given by Moses, [but] grace and truth came by Jesus Christ. So therefore, in the New Testament we begin with For the law in John 1:17. The Holy Spirit of God in John 1:17 reveals a connection with the law that came by Moses to the ONE who is grace and truth, the Lord Jesus Christ.

• For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death. In Romans 8:2 again begins with For the law, but now it is the Law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus which shows us a continual thought by the Spirit of God.

• For the law made nothing perfect, but the bringing in of a better hope [did]; by the which we draw nigh unto God. In Hebrews 7:19 the Spirit of God shows us that the Law could not make us perfect before God. Only the hope which is IN Jesus Christ could transform us by our new birth into the sons of God.

• For the law maketh men high priests which have infirmity; but the word of the oath, which was since the law, [maketh] the Son, who is consecrated for evermore. In Hebrews 7:18 again we see the imperfections NOT in the Law but in the human element that ONLY Christ by an oath given from on high could bring salvation to the children of Adam.

• For the law having a shadow of good things to come, [and] not the very image of the things, can never with those sacrifices which they offered year by year continually make the comers thereunto perfect. In Hebrews 10:1, the Holy Spirit ties the bow of His eternal thought with John 1:17.

For the law introduces us to a continual thought of the Spirit of God around grace and truth that came by Jesus Christ. For He is our eternal life. He is our eternal hope. And He has brought to us ALL the goodness of God. Man could not have put these five verses in the Bible and begin each verse with these three words: For the law and have the continual thought throughout each and every verse. What we have before us is the supernatural word of God. Everything in its proper order. Every word with a holy definition. Every precept with divine authority, and every line a continual thought of the divine Creator and Savior of men Jesus Christ.

This last global dictator of Daniel Chapter 11 will be obsessed with the holy covenant. What is the holy covenant? A covenant is a pledge, and a binding unbreakable contract. Before we look at the holy covenant, let us examine the first covenant made with man.

Side Note: The first covenant. The very first mention of covenant is in Genesis Chapter 6, verse 18. But with thee will I establish my covenant; and thou shalt come into the ark, thou, and thy sons, and thy wife, and thy sons’ wives with thee. How fitting that the first mention of a covenant is found in Chapter 6, the number of man, in verse 18. (God’s divine order (10) added to God’s determined new beginning (8) for mankind.) Then there is another interesting point, this covenant is found next in Chapter 9 of the book of Genesis SEVEN times.

And I, behold, I establish my covenant with you, and with your seed after you; (Genesis 9:9)

And I will establish my covenant with you; neither shall all flesh be cut off any more by the waters of a flood; neither shall there any more be a flood to destroy the earth. (Genesis 9:11)

And God said, This [is] the token of the covenant which I make between me and you and every living creature that [is] with you, for perpetual generations: (Genesis 9:12)

I do set my bow in the cloud, and it shall be for a token of a covenant between me and the earth. (Genesis 9:13)

And I will remember my covenant, which [is] between me and you and every living creature of all flesh; and the waters shall no more become a flood to destroy all flesh. (Genesis 9:15)

And the bow shall be in the cloud; and I will look upon it, that I may remember the everlasting covenant between God and every living creature of all flesh that [is] upon the earth. (Genesis 9:16)

And God said unto Noah, This [is] the token of the covenant, which I have established between me and all flesh that [is] upon the earth. (Genesis 9:17)

This covenant was made with Noah, and with all the inhabitants of the earth, and with the earth itself that judgment will never come again in the form of a global flood. This covenant was based in judgment, and on the means of judgment. We are constantly reminded of judgment and God’s covenant with the Earth every time that we see a rainbow in the sky. Even this sign of the rainbow is so hated by Satan that he has tried to remove its very meaning and purpose. The rainbow represents God’s mercy and love to His earth based His judgment that was established in The Law of Sin and Death in Genesis 2:16 and 17. Therefore, Genesis 9 is the message that JUDGMENT by water will never again be used by God to remove iniquity from the earth. Thus, God seals His judgment (the number nine) in His perfection (the number seven) . . . EVEN HIS JUDGMENT IS PERFECT. ♦ End of Side Note: The first covenant.
