The Message Contained in the Numbers: The Number 13
But the men of Sodom were wicked and sinners before the LORD exceedingly.(Genesis 13:13) I would like to say something about this verse before we proceed with the rest of this article. We have the duplicate of the number 13 in 13:13. How could the mere mind of men figure this verse in this Chapter as the complete symbol of evil? I always think of Chapter 13, and verse 13 of Genesis as I do with the man in Revelation whose number is 6 – 6 – 6, and is the epitome of all evil. We have in Sodom, the symbol of evil, even the world today refers to the number 13 as an unlucky number or a number that represents evil. Even Friday the 13th is feared by many. How did the Spirit of God identify these wicked men of Sodom by placing the number 13:13 as a symbol of the Beast to come. I will always believe in scriptural numerology: even in the application of Spirit led verse and chapters numbering. Concerning the Scriptures, the passer by will never see the depth of the river of life, and so, the clouded eyes of man without Christ will never see the glories of heaven.
There are two chapters that I would like you to compare with Chapter 13, verse 13 of Genesis: the entire Chapter of Matthew 13, and Chapter 13 in the Book of the Revelation of Jesus Christ. Again, I say, there are no contradictions, nor conflicts within the Word of God because it is authored by God Himself through God the Holy Spirit: One Author. In Matthew, Chapter 13, you will see the conflict of man against God, and Satan trying to destroy the work of God. In Revelation, Chapter 13, you will see the final outcome of man possessed by the devil, and the man of complete evil in his number 6 – 6 – 6. This is not an exhaustive study on the number 13, and through our future studies we will again bump into this number.
